The latest update is out from Avalon Advanced Materials ( (TSE:AVL) ).

Avalon Advanced Materials has appointed veteran engineer Glen Smith as Project Director for the Lake Superior Lithium refinery, based in Thunder Bay, to lead feasibility work and prepare the project for construction. With more than 35 years of international hydrometallurgical and process-engineering experience, Smith will coordinate local engineering, project management, and community engagement as the company targets completion of a feasibility study by 2027.

The Lake Superior Lithium project is planned as a state-of-the-art lithium hydroxide conversion facility in Thunder Bay, designed to produce about 30,000 tonnes annually of battery-grade lithium products for EV and energy-storage markets. Supported by strong preliminary economics, advanced low-carbon processing technology, and by-product valorization into industrial materials, the project is positioned to strengthen Ontario’s clean-growth agenda and Avalon’s role in Canada’s emerging lithium and rare earth supply chains.

The most recent analyst rating on (TSE:AVL) stock is a Hold with a C$0.06 price target. To see the full list of analyst forecasts on Avalon Advanced Materials stock, see the TSE:AVL Stock Forecast page.

Spark’s Take on AVL Stock

According to Spark, TipRanks’ AI Analyst, AVL is a Neutral.

The score is held down primarily by weak financial performance (declining revenue, deeply negative profitability, and persistent cash burn). Technical indicators are comparatively supportive, with price above key moving averages and positive momentum. Valuation is also a risk factor because earnings are negative (making P/E less informative) and there is no dividend yield.
