An announcement from ARK Mines Ltd ( (AU:AHK) ) is now available.
Ark Mines has reported the discovery of shallow gold mineralisation in drilling at its Sandy Mitchell project in North Queensland, intersected within a paleochannel conglomerate south of its existing rare earths and heavy minerals resource. Although the gold grades are modest, initial gravity concentration tests indicate potential to recover gold as a by-product credit alongside monazite-hosted rare earths and heavy minerals, which could enhance the value of the project’s concentrates for stakeholders.
The gold-focused drilling followed earlier identification of gold in streams on the southern part of the tenement and was conducted after the 2025 resource expansion program, with assays returned so far from only a fraction of the 166 one-metre samples across eight drill holes. Ark plans to complete assaying of all remaining samples while keeping its primary focus on developing the rare earths and heavy minerals resource, and has strengthened technical oversight at Sandy Mitchell with the appointment of Daemon de Chaeney as Technical Services Manager and Project Geologist.
