Aquila Energy Efficiency Trust PLC ( (GB:AEET) ) has issued an update.
Aquila Energy Efficiency Trust PLC has secured FCA registration as a small self-managed UK AIFM and, from 10 April 2026, is operating as a self-managed fund for the remainder of its wind-down. The move ends its reliance on an external alternative investment fund manager and marks a shift in governance as the trust progresses into the fourth year of its managed run-off.
The board has terminated its investment advisory agreement with Aquila Capital and its AIFM agreement with Fundrock, without notice payments, while retaining key former Aquila managers Alex Betts and Franco Hauri as consultants via a new consultancy deal. The consultants will oversee asset realisations and ongoing management under a fee and performance-based structure designed to preserve continuity on the complex portfolio and align incentives with maximising disposal values for shareholders.
Spark’s Take on AEET Stock
According to Spark, TipRanks’ AI Analyst, AEET is a Neutral.
The score is held back primarily by weak and volatile financial performance (sharp 2024 revenue decline and a return to losses) and a bearish technical setup (below major moving averages with negative MACD). These are partially offset by a very conservative balance sheet and the headline-high dividend yield, though the negative P/E and unusually large yield add uncertainty around earnings and payout durability.
