América Móvil, S.A.B. de C.V., headquartered in Mexico City, is a leading telecommunications company providing wireless and fixed-line services across Latin America and Europe. As a prominent player in the telecom industry, it boasts extensive operations in several countries, offering a wide range of services including broadband, PayTV, and corporate network solutions.
In the fourth quarter of 2024, América Móvil reported significant growth in access lines, surpassing 400 million, with substantial gains in postpaid wireless subscribers particularly in Brazil, Colombia, and Mexico. The company also saw notable growth in broadband access, ending the year with 35 million broadband connections, reflecting a 4.7% increase from the previous year.
Financially, the company achieved an 18% increase in revenue to 237 billion pesos, driven by a 19.1% rise in service revenue and a 16.4% boost in EBITDA to 91 billion pesos. This growth was partly attributed to the consolidation of Claro-VTR in Chile and adjustments in Argentina, a hyperinflationary economy. Mobile service revenue grew by 6.2% year-on-year, led by strong performances in Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru.
Despite these positive trends, América Móvil’s net income fell by 47.5% to 9.5 billion pesos due to higher financing costs, with foreign exchange losses being a significant factor. The company’s net debt stood at 485 billion pesos, reflecting its investment in expanding operations and technology infrastructure.
Looking ahead, América Móvil remains focused on enhancing its service offerings and expanding its market presence. The management is optimistic about leveraging its robust infrastructure and innovative solutions to drive future growth and maintain its leadership in the telecommunications sector.
