Altona Rare Earths Unveils Fluorspar and Gallium Resource Upgrades at Monte Muambe

Meet Samuel – Your Personal Investing Prophet

Altona Energy ( (GB:REE) ) just unveiled an update.

Altona Rare Earths has published JORC-compliant mineral resource estimates for fluorspar and gallium at its Monte Muambe project in Mozambique, confirming 3.48 million tonnes of fluorspar-bearing ore grading 20.6% CaF2, sufficient for an initial 9.5-year mine life at 50,000 tonnes per year of acid-grade concentrate, and supporting the launch of full fluorspar scoping studies. The company also reported an 11.73-million-tonne inferred gallium resource grading 54.7 g/t Ga2O3, one of the few code-compliant gallium estimates globally and believed to be the first on a carbonatite deposit, with substantial upside from undrilled anomalies that could lift tonnage above 40 million tonnes, potentially creating a stand-alone gallium development alongside planned fluorspar and rare earths workstreams.

The fluorspar estimate, which includes measured and inferred resources across the Fluorite Zone and Python, underpins the economic case for mine development and suggests further growth potential from the Kudu exploration target and untested Jambire prospects, which together could support a larger, up to 100,000-ton-per-year operation. In parallel, Altona is advancing metallurgical testing for fluorspar in South Africa and for gallium in Canada and Poland, as well as heavy rare earths studies, with management arguing that Monte Muambe is evolving into a multi-catalyst project offering multiple, parallel value-creation avenues for investors as technical and economic parameters are refined.

The gallium resource extends beyond the core fluorspar ore into surrounding fenite, meaning gallium tonnage already far exceeds the fluorspar resource and may significantly expand as less than a fifth of identified gallium-in-soil anomalies has been drilled. By delivering a rare, code-compliant gallium estimate in a critical-minerals context, Altona is seeking to stake out a leadership position in carbonatite-hosted gallium exploration, though commercial viability will depend on ongoing test work to establish viable processing routes and integration with the broader Monte Muambe development strategy.

Spark’s Take on REE Stock

According to Spark, TipRanks’ AI Analyst, REE is a Neutral.

The score is held back primarily by weak financial performance (zero revenue, sustained losses, cash burn, and rising leverage). Technical momentum is a notable offset, with price strength above major moving averages and a positive MACD, while valuation remains constrained by negative earnings and no dividend data.
