Bharti Airtel has partnered with Google to roll out an AI-powered, secure Rich Communications Services messaging experience in India, combining Airtel’s network intelligence with Google’s RCS platform and spam filtering. The collaboration aims to give millions of users high-quality rich messaging features, such as photos, videos and reactions, while significantly reducing mobile spam and digital fraud.
The tie-up extends telecom-grade safeguards to modern messaging channels, addressing security gaps in non-telco apps that have been increasingly exploited by fraudsters. Airtel, which has already blocked 71 billion spam calls and 2.9 billion spam SMS, positioning itself as a leader in anti-spam efforts, expects the enhanced RCS protections to strengthen customer trust and set a new security benchmark for carriers and brands using messaging for enterprise communication.
