Bharti Airtel has become the first and only telecom operator to deliver seamless mobile connectivity on Vidyasagar Setu, the critical bridge linking Kolkata and Howrah, by deploying 1.3 km of fiber and network antennas on six poles to ensure uninterrupted voice and data coverage for thousands of daily commuters. The initiative, executed in collaboration with the Government of West Bengal and various public agencies, forms part of Airtel’s broader rollout of more than 5,250 new network sites across West Bengal over the past three years, reinforcing its network leadership in the state while enhancing commuter safety, traffic management and access to digital services along one of Kolkata’s busiest transport corridors.
