The latest announcement is out from 1414 Degrees Ltd. ( (AU:14D) ).
1414 Degrees has reported further progress on its SiNTL silicon nanoparticle anode, which is designed as a drop-in, lower-cost upgrade to conventional graphite-based lithium-ion battery anodes without requiring changes to existing manufacturing lines. SiNTL test cells have reached a specific capacity of about 530 mAh/g, a roughly 50% improvement over graphite, with development aiming for 600 mAh/g and beyond while maintaining cycle stability through an aluminium-coated silicon design that mitigates volume expansion.
On the back of these results, the company plans to engage with the fast-growing drone and UAV battery supply chain, where high energy density and shorter charging times are prized and cycle-life demands are lower than in EVs. Management sees drones and UAVs, in a global market forecast to reach around US$160 billion by 2030, as an early commercial entry point while it refines scale-up, process optimisation and manufacturing pathways to position SiNTL as a competitively priced, easily integrated anode technology for broader battery industry adoption.
