Tidewater shares came under pressure after the company announced a sizable expansion push that will add new assets but also increase its debt load. Some investors appear worried about the balance between growth and financial risk as the deal moves forward.
The company agreed to buy Wilson Sons Ultratug Participacoes and Atlantic Offshore Services in a transaction valued at about $500M. Tidewater plans to use existing cash and roll over roughly $261M of debt, with the board already approving the deal and closing expected by late Q2 2026, pending regulatory and other approvals.
