Behave or Nintendo Will Brick Your Switch 2

Video game company Nintendo (NTDOF) updated its User Account Agreement ahead of the Switch 2’s release with an extreme warning for hackers. The agreement includes a notice that Nintendo may render the “device permanently unusable in whole or in part” if the console is used for unlicensed or unauthorized purposes. That updated agreement also includes the original Switch.

This is likely referring to hackers who crack Nintendo’s systems to play pirated games or unauthorized content. However, it could also include hobby hackers who may jailbreak the system for other purposes. No matter the case, Nintendo appears ready to hit them with a swift punishment.

Nintendo Switch 2 Release Date

Nintendo is set to release the Switch 2 on June 5, 2025. Preorders for the console have been selling out as the company failed to anticipate the high demand for the device. With the handheld/home hybrid console’s launch less than a month away, it’s not too surprising to see the video game company take extra actions to protect its products.

The Switch 2 will retail for $450, with an optional $500 bundle that includes a copy of Mario Kart World Tour. Nintendo has high hopes for the console, forecasting sales of 15 million units during the company’s current fiscal year, which ends in March 2026. If that happens, it would outperform the original Switch, which sold 14.86 million units in a similar timeframe.

NTDOF stock was down 5.18% as of Monday afternoon, but remains up 63.01% year-to-date.

Is NTDOF Stock a Buy, Hold, or Sell?

Turning to Wall Street, the analysts’ consensus rating for Nintendo is Moderate Buy, based on six Buy, one Hold, and one Sell ratings over the last three months. With that comes an average NTDOF stock price of $84.99, representing a potential 8.03% upside for the shares.
