With early data showing that Apple’s latest iPhone 17 is selling well around the world, including in China, Apple is now planning to grow its line of smartphones and offer at least seven different models by 2027. Currently, Apple sells five versions of the iPhone.
Media reports say the expansion will include some of the most dramatic design changes to the iPhone in years. Apple’s first foldable iPhone is expected to debut in September 2026. When unfolded, the device will resemble an iPad Mini, according to reports.
The 20th Anniversary iPhone
September 2027 will mark the 20th anniversary of the iPhone, which debuted in 2007. And Apple plans to commemorate the occasion with the release of a special 20th-anniversary iPhone that features an enclosure that curves around the edges on both front and back.
The design of the commemorative iPhone will reportedly eliminate the black frame and increase screen size. The company has gradually expanded its iPhone line-up over the years to appeal to a wider range of consumers and their budgets. However, Apple continues to be under pressure to add more artificial intelligence (AI) features to its signature device, including a revamped Siri digital assistant.
iPhone sales account for half (50%) of Apple’s annual revenue.
