Tech giant Apple (AAPL) has revealed the M5 chip, its most advanced processor to date. The chip is powering new versions of the MacBook Pro, iPad Pro, and Vision Pro devices. Built on third-generation 3-nanometer technology, the M5 promises major gains in speed, efficiency, and, most importantly, artificial intelligence (AI) performance. Following the news, AAPL stock was up more than 1% on Wednesday.

M5 Chip Is Supercharged for AI
Apple said the M5 chip can easily handle demanding AI workloads, from real-time image editing to machine learning tasks. It is also expected to boost battery life and overall system responsiveness.
It features a next-gen 10-core GPU with a neural accelerator in each core, delivering up to 4x faster AI performance compared to the M4 chip.
Also, the graphics performance is up to 45% faster than the previous M4 chip, thanks to a redesigned 10-core GPU. At the same time, the main processor (CPU) has up to 10 cores, making general performance about 15% faster for running multiple demanding apps at once.
In terms of price, Apple has kept the starting prices for the new models featuring the M5 chip the same as the previous generation. Importantly, the launch comes just in time to capture holiday shopping sales.

Apple’s M5 chip is not just a performance upgrade but a major step to stay ahead in the performance race, as rivals such as Qualcomm (QCOM) and Intel (INTC) are ramping up their AI chip development.
