Anthropic, the artificial intelligence (AI) firm behind the Claude models, is charging toward a massive $900 billion valuation. The firm has agreed to a $30 billion funding round, with the deal expected to close as soon as this month. If it completes its funding round, Anthropic could surpass OpenAI, which was valued at about $852 billion in March, to become the world’s most valuable private AI startup.

Anthropic’s New Round Brings It Closer to $1 Trillion Valuation
Anthropic’s new funding round, announced on May 14, is set to push its valuation closer to $1 trillion. The deal is expected to be co-led by Dragoneer, Greenoaks, Sequoia Capital, and Altimeter Capital. Each of these investors is likely to put in $2 billion or more. It also includes “a portion” of the previously announced investments from Microsoft (MSFT) and Nvidia (NVDA).
Microsoft had earlier pledged up to $5 billion, while Nvidia planned investments of up to $10 billion. Other long-term backers, including Amazon (AMZN) and Alphabet Class A (GOOGL), continue to support the AI firm through ongoing investment programs.
The new fundraising deal came together quickly after investors approached Anthropic last month. The company’s CFO, Krishna Rao, then began discussions with them. However, the final structure of the agreement is still being worked out.
If completed, this round could nearly triple Anthropic’s $380 billion valuation from February. That earlier Series G round raised $30 billion and valued the company at $350 billion. Meanwhile, the AI firm has noted that the fresh capital will support its infrastructure growth, research, and investments in enterprise-grade products.
Revenue Growth Behind Anthropic’s $900 Billion Valuation Push
Anthropic’s leadership said the new funding round was planned in response to the “incredible demand” from enterprise customers who use its Claude agents, safety tools, and industry-specific AI workflows. This strong demand is also reflected in the firm’s revenue growth. Anthropic’s annualized revenue is expected to pass $45 billion soon, up from about $9 billion at the end of last year.
The AI company also reports a current revenue run rate of around $14 billion, showing how quickly adoption has increased. A key driver of this growth is Claude Code, Anthropic’s developer-focused product. Claude Code now generates more than $2.5 billion in annual revenue from helping developers write and manage software.
That figure has more than doubled since early 2026. This strong growth is also why investors are willing to value the company so highly and why expectations are building around a potential IPO later this year.
