Claude Targets Law Students With Bar Exam Plugin
Anthropic is now empowering law students and professionals with new AI tools to help improve workflow. The Claude maker released a law student plugin that goes beyond bar exam prep. It supports case briefing, outline building, flashcard creation, and IRAC (Issue, Rule, Analysis, Conclusion) grading.
The rollout also includes a separate “commercial counsel” tool that handles vendor agreement reviews. Notably, the 12 plugins cover numerous fields and help users prepare depositions, draft files, and research case law. The tools are available to paying users through Claude Cowork and via third-party services on Claude.
Claude Gains Ground in Legal Market
Beyond the plugins, Anthropic also released over 20 new connectors linking Claude to tools used by top law firms. These include the electronic signature platform DocuSign (DOCU), the legal data and media firm Thomson Reuters (TRI), the AI legal service Harvey, and the e-discovery company Everlaw.
According to Anthropic’s associate general counsel, Mark Pike, lawyers have become the top users of Claude Cowork, outside software developers, since the legal tool launched in February.
More than 20,000 legal professionals also signed up for the Claude April webinar, making it Anthropic’s largest legal session to date. Law firms now using Claude on live matters include Freshfields, Quinn Emanuel, Holland & Knight, and Crosby Legal.
