Analyst Arjun Bhatia has assumed solo coverage of Adobe and downgraded the stock to Hold (Market Perform) with a $237 price target, effectively signaling limited near‑term upside. His move reflects growing concerns that intense competition, especially in Adobe’s core Creative Cloud franchise, could keep the shares range‑bound until the outlook becomes clearer.

Bhatia notes that Adobe looks inexpensive at around nine times free cash flow, but argues that valuation alone may not be enough to offset mounting strategic questions. He highlights worries about pricing power, long‑term margins, and Adobe’s ability to stand out as artificial intelligence reshapes the creative software market.

The analyst points to rivals such as Canva and Figma, which are scaling rapidly on the fringes of Adobe’s traditional stronghold. Canva has reached about $4 billion in annual recurring revenue growing over 30%, while Figma is at roughly a $1.2 billion run rate growing 40%, versus Adobe’s much larger $19 billion Digital Media run rate growing only in the low double digits.

New “AI native” platforms like Midjourney, Synthesia, Runway, and StabilityAI, along with growing interest from giants such as Google, OpenAI, and Apple, are adding to competitive pressure. Bhatia, who ranks 11,817 out of 12,068 analysts with a 38.82% success rate and an average return of -6.10% per rating, believes this crowded landscape could cap Adobe’s upside for now.
