Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) stock was up on Wednesday alongside the release of reviews for its new Ryzen 7 9850X3D CPU. The consensus among reviewers is that AMD’s newest chip is also the best for gaming, surpassing the Ryzen 7 9800X3D. However, current Ryzen 7 9800X3D owners won’t need to upgrade to the Ryzen 7 9850X3D, as its performance is only slightly above its predecessor.

PC gamers who don’t own a Ryzen 7 9800X3D and are looking to upgrade will want to consider the new chip. The Ryzen 7 9850X3D has a 5.6-GHz boost clock and is priced at $500, compared to the 5.2-GHz boost clock and $470 price of the Ryzen 7 9800X3D. While this only equates to a few extra frames in most games, the performance boost only costs slightly more than the previous chip and gives gamers access to the best chip for their hobby.
AMD’s Ryzen 7 9850X3D isn’t available just yet, but will hit shelves tomorrow. However, the demand for the CPU might outpace the supply, meaning customers may have to wait before they can purchase the processor, or pay a price above its $500 MSRP.
