AMD Stock Gains on GPU Price Increase Details

Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) stock was up on Friday after insider reports confirmed the new price increases coming to the semiconductor company’s graphics processing units (GPUs). These sources told Tom’s Hardware that AMD’s upcoming price increase for its GPUs will work out to roughly $10 per 8 GB of VRAM.

The increased GPU price being tied to VRAM makes sense. The RAM sector has been strained by the demand for artificial intelligence (AI) data centers, making it difficult for RAM manufacturers to keep up. While that supply issue might seem like a problem for AMD, it’s not a major concern since the company is also tied to the AI sector with its EPYC server CPUs, AI GPUs, and Helios server rack offerings.

Instead, it’s consumers who will have to deal with the increased GPU prices more than anyone else. The increased cost of VRAM is expected to be passed on to customers, with another GPU price hike expected in January 2026. On top of this, offerings for the consumer sector are thinning as many manufacturers focus on the AI market. This even resulted in Micron (MU) announcing the winddown of its Crucial business, which offered RAM and storage solutions to consumers.

AMD Stock Movement Today

AMD stock was up 1.09% on Friday, extending an 80.76% rally year-to-date. The stock has also increased 55.84% over the past 12 months. As noted, AMD has benefited from the AI boom of 2025, which has been largely responsible for its stock gains this year.

Is AMD Stock a Buy, Sell, or Hold?

Turning to Wall Street, the analysts’ consensus rating for AMD is Moderate Buy, based on 28 Buy and 10 Hold ratings over the past three months. With that comes an average AMD stock price target of $284.67, representing a potential 30.34% upside for the shares.
