Amazon (AMZN) to Expand Its Benefits and Pay Structure to Whole Foods Workers

E-commerce giant Amazon (AMZN) will expand its corporate benefits and pay structure to Whole Foods corporate employees in order to create a more unified grocery business. By December 2026, all corporate staff across Amazon’s grocery divisions will receive the same perks. However, until then, Whole Foods corporate employees will keep their in-store discounts and get new benefits, such as a 10% discount on Amazon merchandise and access to Amazon’s employee deals on things like phone plans, car insurance, travel, and entertainment.

Amazon spokesperson Lauren Snyder said that the change, which was first shared with employees in June, is about giving everyone across different teams the same experience. In addition, the update is expected to improve teamwork and coordination across Amazon’s grocery operations, which include Whole Foods, Amazon Fresh, and its cashier-free Amazon Go stores. According to The Wall Street Journal, Whole Foods corporate staff will have about a month to review their updated job titles, salaries, and benefit plans.

This shift comes as Amazon puts more focus on its grocery business in the U.S. Indeed, the company has expanded its Prime delivery service to include perishable food and added more cities to better compete with rivals like Walmart (WMT), Kroger (KR), and Instacart (CART). Amazon has also committed over $4 billion to grow its delivery network by the end of 2026 by focusing on smaller towns and rural areas.
