Palantir Technologies has become one of the most hotly debated names in the AI trade, as its share price swings contrast sharply with its strong operating performance. The company delivered an impressive third quarter, beating revenue and earnings expectations, raising guidance, and posting standout figures such as 63% year-over-year revenue growth and 134% net revenue retention. Management, led by CEO Alex Karp, argues that Palantir’s rapid expansion and position as an AI leader make traditional valuation metrics less relevant. However, with the stock trading at sky‑high multiples — roughly 430 times earnings and 60 times sales — many investors remain wary. Some, like top-ranked investor Geoffrey Seiler, see Palantir as a clear long-term AI winner but prefer to wait for a major pullback before buying, citing the risk of a sharp correction after the stock’s 142% year-to-date surge.

Wall Street is similarly split. Bank of America’s Mariana Perez Mora, one of the top-rated analysts on the Street, has reiterated a Buy rating on Palantir Technologies and a Street-high price target of $255, implying close to 40% upside. She highlights Palantir’s unmatched AI capabilities, growing enterprise adoption, and strengthening government business, including a new two-year, $448 million U.S. Navy ShipOS contract that will use the company’s Foundry and AIP platforms to tackle shipbuilding bottlenecks and potentially expand to surface ships. Mora also points to shorter sales cycles, a growing backlog, and new product extensions — such as AI forward-deployed engineers, Autopilot, and workflow automation tools — as drivers of both growth and margin expansion. Yet the broader analyst consensus remains cautious: with 3 Buys, 11 Holds, and 2 Sells and an average 12‑month price target of about $187.87, the market is signaling that while Palantir’s AI story is compelling, its current valuation leaves little room for error.
