President Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping held a phone call on Wednesday morning, discussing a wide range of topics including Taiwan, the Ukraine-Russia war, Iran, oil, and trade.

“The relationship with China, and my personal relationship with President Xi, is an extremely good one, and we both realize how important it is to keep it that way,” Trump said in a Truth Social post. He added that China has committed to buying 25 million tons of U.S. soybeans next season and is considering purchasing other agricultural products as well.
Xi Prioritizes U.S.-China Relationship, Draws Hard Line on Taiwan
Xi said that the U.S.-China relationship is extremely important to him and that the two sides should work together to resolve differences and expand cooperation, according to Chinese state media Xinhua. He emphasized Taiwan as the “most important issue in China-U.S. relations” and stressed that the island is China’s territory.
Looking ahead, Trump is set to visit Beijing, China in April, while Xi is expected to arrange a trip to the U.S. sometime this year.
