Wedbush says that while the firm thinks the near-term financial impact to established ride-sharing platforms is limited, over time, Wedbush expects autonomous vehicles will disrupt the current status quo. The firm notes that 40% of Uber‘s (UBER) mobility gross bookings are most exposed to potential AV risk, with similar proportion of Lyft‘s (LYFT) core business. Wedbush finds that the cities where AVs are either in testing or full deployment represent close to 28% of Uber’s mobility segment, and it estimates an additional 12% is at risk, given several high-density U.S. cities where AVs currently do not operate.
