After L3Harris (LHX) announced that it intends to spin out its solid rocket motor missile solutions business and receive a $1B investment from the Department of War as part of the plan, William Blair analyst Louie DiPalma noted that ViaSat (VSAT) indicated in its November earnings call that its board was evaluating strategic options, including a spinout, for its defense and advanced technologies division. The analyst, who thinks the proposed L3Harris transaction may cause ViaSat to move forward, has an Outperform rating on ViaSat shares.
