The U.S. is pursuing a new legal strategy to seize oil tankers transporting black market oil, targeting vessels around Venezuela, The Wall Street Journal’s Shelby Holliday, Dustin Volz, and Costas Paris report. The U.S. Coast Guard pursued the Bella 1 and seized the Skipper and the Centuries, which carried nearly 2 million barrels of oil. About 70% of Venezuela’s oil exports rely on sanctioned vessels now targeted by the U.S. government, threatening the regime’s revenue. Publicly traded companies in the space include BP (BP), Chevron (CVX), ConocoPhillips (COP), Exxon Mobil (XOM), Shell (SHEL) and TotalEnergies (TTE).
