The renewed U.S.-China trade truce has left a key area of export restrictions tied to national security untouched, Laurie Chen and Fanny Potkin of Reuters reports, citing two people briefed on detailed outcomes of the talks. Beijing has not committed to grant export clearance for certain specialized rare-earth magnets that U.S. suppliers use for fighter jets and missile systems, sources said. Similarly, U.S. maintains export curbs on China’s purchases of advanced AI chips over concerns of their uses in the military. Companies involved in the development and mining of rare earth minerals include: Nova Minerals (NVA), Ioneer (IONR), Lynas Rare Earths (LYSCF), MP Materials (MP), Energy Fuels (UUUU), NioCorp (NB) and VanEck Vectors Rare Earth/Strategic Metals ETF (REMX).
