U.S.-EU TRADE DEAL: President Donald Trump told reporters while speaking at the White House that he sees a “50/50” chance of reaching a trade deal with the European Union, which “may” have to “buy down” their tariffs.

REAPING REWARDS: Boeing (BA) appears to be reaping rewards from the trade war begun by President Donald Trump, with the company receiving a steady stream of new orders related to trade deals between the U.S. and other countries, Niraj Chokshi of The New York Times reports. Not only will these sales potentially serve as a boon for Boeing but will also allow Trump to claim his trade policies help American companies.

FED CHAIR: President Donald Trump downplayed his clash with Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell over cost overruns during a tour of the central bank’s renovation project, maintaining there is “no tension” with Powell and indicating that problems with the project probably weren’t reason enough to fire the central bank head, Bloomberg’s Josh Wingrove and Amara Omeokwe report. Trump told reporters he would like to see interest rates lowered, saying “I just want to see one thing happen, very simple: Interest rates have to come down.”

PUMPING OIL: The Trump administration will allow Chevron (CVX) to continue to pump oil in Venezuela, Alex Leary, Vera Bergengruen, and Kejal Vyas of The Wall Street Journal report. While details on the agreement are still unclear, this decision follows discussions between President Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio as well as last week’s prisoner swap with the last 10 Americans detained by the Venezuelan government, people familiar with the matter told the Journal.
