VENEZUELA: President DonaldTrump told Fox News that the U.S. will be “very strongly involved” in Venezuela’s oil industry. Trump said, What can I say? We have the greatest oil companies in the world, the biggest, the greatest, and we’re going to be very much involved in it.” Publicly traded companies in the space include BP (BP), Chevron (CVX), ConocoPhillips (COP), Exxon Mobil (XOM), Shell (SHEL) and TotalEnergies (TTE).
Of note, President Trump announced into Saturday that United States “has successfully carried out a large scale strike against Venezuela and its leader, President Nicolas Maduro, who has been, along with his wife, captured and flown out of the Country.” Chevron is the only international oil company with operations in Venezuela.
The President further stated that the United States will control Venezuela for an unspecified period after the U.S. captured the company’s president and his wife. “We’re going to run the country until such time as we can do a safe, proper and judicious transition,” Trump said.
According to a report by Bloomberg, Venezuela’s oil infrastructure is unharmed following the attacks by the U.S., sources told the publication.
