President Donald Trump urged Fannie Mae (FNMA) and Freddie Mac (FMCC) to “get Big Homebuilders going,” accusing the U.S. builders of “sitting on 2 Million empty lots, a RECORD,” Reuters reports. It is not yet clear what action Trump expects the builders or mortgage giants to take. Publicly traded companies in the homebuilding space include Beazer Homes (BZH), D.R. Horton (DHI), Hovnanian (HOV), KB Home (KBH), Lennar (LEN), M.D.C. Holdings (MDC), PulteGroup (PHM) and Toll Brothers (TOL).
