Square Enix (SQNXF) announced that it would be cutting jobs across “nearly all areas” of its Western operations during an all-hands meeting on Thursday, VideoGamesChronicle’s Andy Robinson reports. In a video call to staff outside of the company’s home country of Japan, president Takashi Kiryu said the “Final Fantasy” and “Dragon Quest” maker was implementing “overseas structural reform” to establish a more “lean” and “agile” business across Europe and the U.S., the author notes. Kiryu added that the company plans to implement a “fundamental restructuring of the overseas publishing organization,” with details of the revamp to be shared dat a late time, the author says, noting that staff were told that roles would be cut and that remaining workers would be required to spend more time working in the office.
