Soros buys JPMorgan, exits Alibaba in Q1

George Soros’ Soros Fund Mangement disclosed in an SEC filing its holdings as of March 31, 2025. The fund’s new buys during the first quarter included, by size of position, American Electric Power (AEP), Entergy (ETR), JPMorgan (JPM), TKO (TKO), and Xtrackers Harvest CSI 300 China A-Shares ETF (ASHR). Soros exited a number of positions during the quarter, including by size of previous position iShares Russell 2000 ETF (IWM), Arthur J. Gallagher (AJG), Alibaba (BABA), Jacobs (J), and Ventas (VTR). The fund increased its stake in several holdings, including by size of previous position SPDR S&P 500 ETF Trust (SPY), Flutter (FLUT), Goldman Sachs (GS), Standard Aero (SARO), and Corebridge Financial (CRBG). Soros reduced its stake in a number of holdings, including by size of previous position Alphabet Class A (GOOGL), JD.com (JD), Smurfit Westrock (SW), iShares iBoxx $ Investment Grade Corporate Bond ETF (LQD), KraneShares CSI China Internet ETF (KWEB). The fund’s top holdings as of March 31, in order of size, were Smurfit Westrock, AstraZeneca (AZN), SPDR S&P 500 ETF Trust, GFL Environmental (GFL), and AerCap (AER).
