Google to pay $135M to resolve proposed Android class action suit, Reuters says

Alphabet’s (GOOGL) (GOOG) Google has agreed to pay $135M to settle a proposed class action litigation by smartphone users who claim the company programmed its Android operating system to gather their cellular data without their consent, Reuters’ Jonathan Stempel reports. A preliminary settlement with the search giant was filed late yesterday in the San Jose, California federal court, and needs approval by a judge, the author notes. Google has denied wrongdoing as part of the agreement, which covers users of Android devices since November 12, 2017, the author says.
