SHEIN, a leading global fashion and lifestyle online retailer, has announced its entry into the book market through a strategic partnership with Alibris, a prominent online marketplace for independent book sellers. This move marks SHEIN’s first foray into books, offering its customers an affordable and convenient way to access a wide range of titles. The collaboration is driven by increasing demand from SHEIN’s community, particularly among Gen Z, who have shown a renewed interest in physical books. The SHEIN Marketplace U.S. now features an Alibris storefront, providing access to over 100,000 book titles across popular genres such as romance, fantasy, mystery, and non-fiction. Additionally, affordable textbooks are available, positioning SHEIN as a versatile destination for both fashion and educational needs.
George Chang, general manager and head of SHEIN Marketplace U.S., emphasized the lifestyle aspect of reading among their customers, noting that the average SHEIN customer reads one to three books monthly. This partnership with Alibris aligns with SHEIN’s commitment to supporting its customers’ diverse interests. A recent survey by SHEIN Marketplace U.S. revealed that one-third of over 11,000 U.S. adults read books daily or weekly, underscoring the growing community of readers. Rob Lambert, vice president of global sales and marketing at Alibris, expressed enthusiasm about reaching a new audience of Gen Z and millennial readers through this collaboration. As SHEIN continues to expand its customer base, the company is also broadening its network of sellers to meet the dynamic lifestyles of its shoppers, providing them with the necessary tools and resources for success.
