Coda has launched Coda Links, a new infrastructure product designed to help publishers monetize the accelerating regulatory shift toward direct-to-consumer (D2C) payments outside traditional app stores. The solution targets the growing market for out-of-app monetization, particularly as recent rulings and regulations in the US, Europe, and Asia weaken platform control and enable developers to steer users to alternative payment channels and web-based checkouts. For Coda, Coda Links deepens its role as a payments and monetization intermediary by offering publishers a compliant, scalable way to convert link-outs into secure, data-rich transactions while reducing friction for users moving from in-app environments to the web. By leveraging intelligent deep linking to auto-identify users and pre-populate checkout data such as player ID, SKU, and preferred payment methods, Coda aims to raise conversion rates and transaction volumes at a time when web-based payments are already estimated to drive nearly 40% of mobile gaming revenue in Southeast Asia.
Early deployments indicate meaningful revenue impact for Coda’s partners and, by extension, reinforce Coda’s strategic positioning in out-of-app commerce. In one case with a top US publisher, redirecting traffic to Codashop through Coda Links captured 18% of iOS traffic, lifted transaction volumes by more than eight times, and delivered a 14-fold increase in monthly revenue, while another implementation drove a 30% increase in new visitors to publisher web stores within three months. The product also provides granular behavioral and transaction insights to optimize pricing, offers, and retention, while ensuring publishers maintain ownership of customer data across markets and regulatory regimes. Coda offers multiple integration paths—from simple payment pages to full checkout via its commerce API and intermediary pages for stricter app store jurisdictions—extending its existing footprint that already supports over 300 publishers and 300 million paying users across more than 70 markets. As industries such as gaming, streaming, productivity, and the broader creator economy accelerate their move to direct web monetization, Coda Links strengthens Coda’s platform-based growth strategy and its ability to capture incremental volume from the ongoing unbundling of app store payments.
