Its weight loss drug Zepbound will be available for patients from Walmart pharmacies around the U.S. by the middle of next month.

Single Dose

Lilly has been providing all approved doses of Zepbound to cash-paying customers through its website LillyDirect, which was launched last year. Lilly and rival Novo Nordisk (NVO) started offering vials at discounted prices on their respective websites to expand access and fight off competition from compounded versions or cheaper copies of their weight-loss drugs.

Walmart will now offer Zepbound single-dose vials in all approved strengths, with the lowest dose starting at $349 per month with self-pay.

Patients with a valid, on-label prescription can access Zepbound vials directly without using insurance.

“Managing a chronic disease like obesity can be a significant and ongoing burden—physically, emotionally, and financially,” said Jennifer Mazur, SVP and General Manager of LillyDirect. “This collaboration with Walmart is designed to reduce that burden by streamlining access to prescribed treatment.”

Healthy Pharmacy

Walmart said that as the first retail collaboration for LillyDirect, this move marks a significant milestone—”enhancing convenience, broadening access, and empowering patients with more choice in managing their treatment through both digital and in-person pharmacy experiences.”

“Life is busy, and this will help people discover new, easy ways to get their medication,” said Kevin Host, Senior Vice President of Pharmacy at Walmart.

Walmart has over 50,000 pharmacists and pharmacy technicians and it is an area it is increasingly investing in as Americans get more concerned about their overall heath and fitness.

Earlier this year it opened its largest centralized prescription processing facility – all 102,000 sq. ft. of it – in Frederick, Maryland, which can fulfill up to 100,000 prescriptions a day. It can support over 700 stores across 16 states and Washington, D.C.

Health and wellness sales are also bearing up well – see below:

Two additional facilities are under development in Phoenix and Republic, Missouri, and both are expected to open in 2026. Walmart currently operates five prescription processing centers.
