Intuitive Machines (LUNR), a key player in the space tech and infrastructure game, just posted its Q1 2025 earnings, and the numbers, plus a few space feats, are worth a look. The market reacted positively, with LUNR stock already up over 3% in pre-market trading.

Pushing the Limits in Space and Business

The Houston-based company’s revenue for the quarter was $62.5 million, up 14% from Q4 2024, thanks to solid momentum across its major programs, including NASA’s CLPS (Commercial Lunar Payload Services), Lunar Terrain Vehicle Services (LTVS), and Near Space Network Services (NSNS). Gross margin also climbed to 11%, marking a third consecutive quarter of positive margins—a strong sign that the business model is maturing.

However, this wasn’t just a financial story. Intuitive Machines made history by landing its second lunar mission at the Moon’s south pole—the southernmost landing ever. It also completed payload testing of three Jet Propulsion Laboratory-developed rovers for its next big lunar mission, IM-3, which remains on track for a first-half 2026 launch.

Other highlights include completing the preliminary design review for its lunar terrain vehicle, which features autonomous driving and a simulator. The company also won a NextSTEP 2 contract from NASA to support Moon-to-Mars logistics. Under the NSNS program, it completed two milestones worth $9 million and secured another $18 million for upcoming work.

Strategic Projects, Strong Cash Position, and Guidance

The Texas Space Commission also contributed $10 million toward developing an Earth reentry vehicle and microgravity research lab, which is part of Intuitive Machines’ long-term strategy for Moon and Mars sample return missions. Meanwhile, its work on the Air Force Research Laboratory’s JETSON program—a nuclear propulsion initiative—continues to advance, with additional funding expected later this year.

Free cash flow was positive at $13.3 million, and the company ended the quarter with $373.3 million in cash.

Intuitive Machines’ guidance projects revenue of $250–$300 million for 2025, with positive adjusted EBITDA expected by year-end and further improvements in 2026.
