The Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission has approved the allocation of 2×10 MHz spectrum in the 700 MHz band to Grameenphone, Telenor’s majority-owned Bangladeshi subsidiary, at a base price of about BDT 22 billion for a 13-year license period. Grameenphone will pay for the spectrum in 10 equal annual instalments, along with additional annual fees from 2027, a move that is expected to strengthen its network capacity and coverage in Bangladesh and reinforce Telenor’s competitive position in one of its key growth markets.
