Packaging Corporation of America (PCA) is a leading producer of containerboard products and uncoated freesheet paper in North America, operating eight mills and numerous corrugated products plants.

In its second quarter of 2025, PCA reported a net income of $242 million, or $2.67 per share, with net sales reaching $2.2 billion, marking an increase from the previous year. Excluding special items, the net income stood at $224 million, or $2.48 per share.

The company’s financial performance was bolstered by higher pricing and mix in both the Packaging and Paper segments, alongside lower fiber costs. However, these gains were partially offset by increased operating and maintenance costs, as well as higher depreciation and interest expenses. The Packaging segment saw a rise in operating income, while the Paper segment maintained profitability despite a decline in sales volume.

Looking forward, PCA anticipates increased corrugated shipments and containerboard production in the third quarter, despite ongoing economic uncertainties. The company expects stable pricing in both segments and plans to manage costs effectively, aiming for earnings of $2.80 per share, excluding special items.
