The latest announcement is out from Nordea Bank Abp ( (NBNKF) ).
Nordea reported a resilient fourth quarter of 2025, with return on equity edging up to 14.4% and earnings per share rising to EUR 0.34, supported by cost discipline that reduced the cost-to-income ratio excluding regulatory fees to 46.2%. Total operating income was broadly flat as lower net interest income from policy rate cuts was offset by higher fee and commission income and a stronger net fair value result driven by increased customer activity, while operating profit grew 3% to EUR 1.5bn. Business volumes expanded, with mortgage lending up 1%, corporate lending up 8%, retail and corporate deposits increasing 6% and 1% respectively, and assets under management climbing 13% to EUR 478bn on continued strong Nordic net inflows. Credit quality remained robust, with net loan losses below Nordea’s long-term expectation even after a reduction in management judgement buffers, and the CET1 ratio stood at 15.7%, comfortably above regulatory requirements, underpinning continued lending growth and capital returns. Reflecting its strong capital generation, Nordea continued share buy-backs totalling EUR 750m in the quarter and the Board proposed a higher dividend of EUR 0.96 per share for 2025, along with a mid-year dividend in 2026 tied to first-half profits. The bank’s outlook for 2026 targets a return on equity above 15% and a cost-to-income ratio around 45%, reinforcing its positioning as a high-profitability, low-volatility Nordic bank with ongoing distributions to shareholders.
