Boise Cascade Company is a leading North American producer of engineered wood products and plywood, as well as a major U.S. wholesale distributor of building materials.
In its first quarter of 2025, Boise Cascade reported a net income of $40.3 million on sales of $1.5 billion, a significant decrease from the previous year’s net income of $104.1 million on sales of $1.6 billion. The company faced challenges such as constrained demand, adverse weather conditions, and planned downtime at its Oakdale mill.
Key financial highlights include a 7% decrease in overall sales, with the Wood Products segment experiencing an 11% drop in sales and a 75% decline in income. The Building Materials Distribution segment also saw a 7% decrease in sales and a 33% drop in income. Adjusted EBITDA fell by 46% compared to the same quarter last year.
Despite these challenges, Boise Cascade maintains a strong balance sheet with $561.8 million in cash and cash equivalents and substantial liquidity. The company continues to invest strategically, with capital expenditures projected between $220 million and $240 million for 2025.
