Cathie Wood Sells Shopify and Coinbase Stocks, Adds to PagerDuty (PD) Stake, 8/23/25

Cathie Wood’s ARK Invest ETFs (exchange-traded funds) executed a series of trades on Friday, August 22, 2025, according to the funds’ daily disclosures. The trades reflect ARK’s ongoing portfolio adjustment, reducing exposure to Canadian e-commerce platform Shopify (SHOP) and U.S. cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase (COIN), while steadily increasing its stake in cloud-based incident management company PagerDuty (PD).

ARK Cuts Stake in SHOP and COIN

The ARK Next Generation Internet ETF (ARKW) sold 8,476 shares of Shopify, valued at about $1.16 million. This was the fund’s second Shopify sale in a week. A day earlier, ARKW had sold 11,711 shares for about $1.61 million, showing a steady pullback from the e-commerce platform.

ARKW also trimmed its Coinbase stake, selling 3,769 shares worth around $1.13 million. Coinbase has been one of ARK’s key crypto bets in past years, but recent volatility may have led the fund to reduce its holding.

ARK Doubles Down on PagerDuty

While cutting back on Shopify and Coinbase, ARK increased its stake in PagerDuty, cloud-based incident management platform. The ARK Innovation ETF (ARKK) bought 10,150 shares of PD for a value of about $160,000.

This adds to a series of recent PagerDuty purchases by ARKK, highlighting Wood’s growing confidence in the company’s role in digital operations and enterprise software. Notably, the stock has lost 8.4% year-to-date.

On a smaller note, ARKK also sold 959 shares of Guardant Health (GH), a precision oncology company, for a total value of $58,767.
