A big focus of the Redstone update is artificial intelligence (AI)-powered frame generation, which can allow for higher framerates and clearer visuals in games. This is an update that AMD announced in February to help it compete against Nvidia (NVDA) GPUs, which already have similar technology in the GeForce RTX 50 series graphics cards through DLSS 4.
AMD Redstone launched with support for more than 200 games, though only about 40 of those support frame generation. More support will be added over time, and game developers are already expected to utilize the technology for 2026 releases. This will allow for better integration of Redstone frame generation into those titles.
AMD Stock Movement Today
AMD stock was down 0.87% on Wednesday but was still up 81.89% year-to-date. The stock has also rallied 70.28% over the past 12 months.
Today’s Redstone launch builds on AMD’s AI expansion, which has included new CPUs and GPUs dedicated to the technology. While those are tied to server needs, today’s update covers the consumer market. This is an area where AMD has lagged behind rivals Nvidia and Intel (INTC). However, Redstone could help it gain ground in this sector.

Is AMD Stock a Buy, Sell, or Hold?
Turning to Wall Street, the analysts’ consensus rating for AMD is Moderate Buy, based on 28 Buy and 10 Hold ratings over the past three months. With that comes an average AMD stock price target of $284.16, representing a potential 29.27% upside for the shares.
