Ahead of Q4 Earnings, Let’s Look at Who Owns Amazon Stock

Amazon.com (AMZN) is set to report its fourth-quarter 2025 results on February 5. The stock is up 5% year to date and 2% over the past year. Wall Street expects Amazon to report Q4 earnings of $1.97 per share, up from $1.86 a year ago, while revenue is forecast to rise 13% year over year to about $211.43 billion.

Ahead of the earnings report, several top Wall Street analysts have maintained Buy ratings on the stock. Interest from institutional investors has also picked up. Notably, Cathie Wood recently added to her Amazon position through ARK Invest. She bought 8,088 shares of Amazon, worth roughly $1.93 million, on January 30, signaling continued confidence in the company’s long-term outlook.

With Amazon stock back in focus ahead of earnings, it’s worth taking a closer look at who owns AMZN stock. Now, according to TipRanks’ Ownership Tool, public companies and individual investors own 51.99% of Amazon. They are followed by exchange-traded funds (ETFs), mutual funds, insiders, and other institutional investors, at 18.60%, 18.51%, 10.13%, and 0.77%, respectively. 

Digging Deeper into Amazon’s Ownership Structure

Looking closely at Amazon’s top shareholders, founder and executive chair Jeffrey Bezos owns the highest stake at 10.10%. Next up is Vanguard, which holds a 6.72% stake in the company.

Among the top ETF holders, the Vanguard Total Stock Market ETF (VTI) owns a 2.83% stake in AMZN, while the Vanguard S&P 500 ETF (VOO) owns 2.30%.

Moving to mutual funds, Vanguard Index Funds holds about 5.98% of Amazon. Meanwhile, Fidelity Concord Street Trust owns 1.55% of the company.

Overall, Wall Street has a Strong Buy consensus rating on Amazon stock based on 35 Buys versus one Hold recommendation. The average AMZN stock price target of $297.21 indicates 22.33% upside potential.
