Memory and storage chips company Micron Technology (MU) is scheduled to announce its results for the first quarter of Fiscal 2026 on December 17. MU stock has rallied by an impressive 208% year-to-date, driven by solid demand for the company’s offerings amid the ongoing artificial intelligence (AI) wave.

Ahead of the Q1 FY26 results, Citi analyst Christopher Danely raised his price target for Micron stock to $300 from $275 and reiterated a Buy rating, calling it one of the clearest beneficiaries of accelerating AI-led demand for memory chips. Danely expects Micron to deliver a “significant beat and raise,” driven by a spike in DRAM (dynamic random access memory) pricing.

Meanwhile, Wall Street expects Micron to report earnings per share (EPS) of $3.91, up 118% year over year. Revenue is estimated to rise 47% to $12.80 billion.

Now, according to TipRanks’ Ownership Tool, public companies and individual investors own 38.78% of Micron. They are followed by mutual funds, ETFs, other institutional investors, and insiders at 28.58%, 28.39%, 3.99%, and 0.25%, respectively. 

Digging Deeper into Micron’s Ownership Structure

Looking closely at the top shareholders, Vanguard owns the highest stake in Micron at 7.90%, followed by Vanguard Index Funds with a 7.03% holding.

Among the top ETF holders, the Vanguard Total Stock Market ETF (VTI) owns a 3.14% stake in MU, while the Vanguard S&P 500 ETF (VOO) owns 2.46%.

Moving to mutual funds, Vanguard Index Funds holds about 7.03% of Micron. Meanwhile, American Funds Fundamental Investors owns 2.12% of the company.

Is Micron a Good Stock to Buy?

Currently, Wall Street has a Strong Buy consensus rating on Micron stock based on 27 Buys and three Hold recommendations. The average MU stock price target of $252.17 indicates 2.43% downside risk.
