XRP’s Price Could Drop by 50% as Major Bank SBI Partners with Solana

XRP’s Price Could Drop by 50% as Major Bank SBI Partners with Solana
Story Highlights
  • SBI is building a new framework with Doppler Finance to let Japanese institutions lend and borrow against XRP.
  • Some analysts warn that XRP’s price could drop 50% as SBI forms a new asset tokenization partnership with Solana.

XRP (XRP-USD) trades at $1.10 on Wall Street as its biggest backer, SBI (SBHGF), takes new steps in Japan. Many investors are asking if XRP will drop 50% because of a new SBI partnership with Solana (SOL-USD). Unfortunately, a steep drop is likely for XRP, according to some analysts, but others see SBI’s moves as a natural plan to grow different parts of the crypto world.

Currently, XRP faces pressure as market trends change quickly. While SBI continues to support the XRP ledger, the firm is also exploring other blockchain systems to grow its reach.

SBI Is Still Working with Doppler Finance to Build XRP Lending

SBI Digital Finance is teaming up with Doppler Finance to build XRP lending for big firms in Japan. Under this new plan, banks and funds can lend out their XRP to earn fees. They can also borrow cash against their XRP without selling it.

XRP has always had a problem because holders cannot earn steady returns just by keeping it. Unlike other tokens, the XRP system does not have built-in ways to pay users for holding their coins. This new tool would let big companies finally put their idle XRP to work. However, this deal is currently only a framework, and no funds have been committed yet.

SBI Is Also Working with Solana

At the same time, SBI Holdings is working with the Solana Foundation to build a new financial market in Japan. The new project, called SBI Solana Global, will focus on digital assets like stablecoins and corporate bonds. It will build these new services directly on the Solana network.

This new partnership surprised many XRP fans. SBI has worked with Ripple for a decade to build payments, so some people worry that SBI is moving away from XRP. But some experts say it is smart for a large firm to use different networks for different jobs. They say the future of digital finance will use many different chains.

Analyst Warns that XRP Could Lose 50% of Its Value

While SBI builds these new systems with other parts of the crypto world, some analysts warn that XRP could face a major fall. Financial analyst Johnny Rice from The Motley Fool warns that XRP could lose half of its value. If that happens, the price of XRP would fall from $1.07 down to around $0.54.

The analyst questions if Ripple’s commercial growth actually helps the price of XRP. Some of Ripple’s services do not require the token to work. Also, Ripple’s stablecoin RLUSD might do a better job of moving money across borders. This means the price of XRP could fall even if Ripple does well.

At the time of writing, XRP’s price is sitting at $1.0954.
