The company announced that it is among the winners of the UK Clean Maritime Demonstration Competition Round 6 (CMDC6) for its TURBO-METH project, developed in partnership with HyperGen. The project will conduct a pre-deployment trial of an integrated, end-to-end green biomethanol production and utilisation system, combining PuriFire’s hydrothermal gasification-to-methanol technology with HyperGen’s micro gas turbines running on biomethanol for distributed power generation. The demonstration will take place at Shoreham Port and is designed to validate a scalable, port-based circular energy model. Project partners include Shoreham Port, Newcastle University, Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult, Xpress Feeders, and Associated British Ports, with support from the UK Department for Transport and Innovate UK.
For investors, winning CMDC6 funding and participation in a high-profile decarbonisation consortium enhances PuriFire Energy’s credibility in the maritime and clean-fuels sectors and may de-risk aspects of its technology development through non-dilutive grant support. Successful demonstration at a commercial port could materially advance the company’s pathway to commercialisation, opening opportunities for future port-based deployments and licensing or project-development revenues tied to green methanol and circular energy systems. The collaboration with established industry and academic partners also strengthens PuriFire’s ecosystem positioning, potentially improving its competitive edge in emerging net-zero shipping and port decarbonisation markets.
