PuriFire Energy Wins UK Clean Maritime Award for TURBO-METH Green Biomethanol Project

PuriFire Energy has shared an update. The company announced that it is among the winners of the U.K. Clean Maritime Demonstration Competition Round 6 (CMDC6) for its TURBO-METH project, developed in partnership with HyperGen. The project will conduct a pre-deployment trial of an integrated green biomethanol production and utilization system, combining PuriFire’s hydrothermal gasification-to-methanol technology using wet waste feedstocks with HyperGen’s biomethanol-fueled micro gas turbines for distributed power generation. The demonstration will take place at Shoreham Port and is supported by a consortium including Shoreham Port, Newcastle University, Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult, Xpress Feeders, and Associated British Ports, with funding support from the UK Department for Transport and Innovate UK.

For investors, participation and success in CMDC6 signal growing validation of PuriFire Energy’s technology within the maritime decarbonization space, a sector that is attracting increasing regulatory and capital interest. The port-based demonstration model suggests a potentially scalable pathway for circular, low-carbon fuel infrastructure, which could open future commercial opportunities in ports and shipping if technical and economic performance targets are met. Collaboration with established industry and academic partners may enhance PuriFire’s credibility, de-risk development, and improve prospects for follow-on funding or commercial contracts.
