Origis Energy has brought into full operation its three-phase Swift Air Solar complex in West Texas, a 500 MWdc portfolio built to supply electricity to Occidental’s regional operations, including the STRATOS direct air capture facility. The projects, all located in Ector County, were planned, developed, and constructed by Origis, with the final phase commissioned in late 2025 and representing more than $650 million in cumulative infrastructure investment.

For Origis, Swift Air solidifies its position as a large-scale renewable infrastructure developer able to deliver purpose-built, grid-scale power for energy and industrial customers pursuing decarbonization. Chief Executive Officer Vikas Anand highlighted the projects as evidence of Origis’s execution capabilities and the role of utility-scale solar in meeting U.S. energy and climate objectives, while Occidental executives underscored that dedicated power supply is critical to unlocking the Permian Basin’s potential and enabling large-scale carbon removal technologies. The long-term operation and performance optimization of these assets will expand Origis’s contracted asset base, deepen its relationship with a key low-carbon customer in the Permian, and position the company to compete for additional power and decarbonization mandates tied to direct air capture and other energy-intensive, low-carbon infrastructure.
