Nscale obtained $790 million in committed financing to expand its AI-focused data center campus in Narvik, Norway, described as the largest dedicated AI infrastructure investment in the country. The package, backed by a syndicate including ABN AMRO, DNB, Eksfin, Nordea and SEB, also includes an additional $790 million uncommitted accordion for a planned 115MW power and capacity expansion.
This new debt follows a $2 billion Series C round and a $1.4 billion GPU-backed term loan completed earlier in 2026, reinforcing the company’s capital-intensive build-out strategy. Management positions Nscale at the forefront of global AI infrastructure with a full-stack platform spanning energy, data centers, GPU compute and software for AI-native customers, enterprises and governments.
On the strategic front, Nscale executives promoted a hub-and-spoke architecture for European AI infrastructure, highlighting Sines, Portugal as a key hub. The proposed model aims to centralize efficiency while decentralizing control of AI compute, aligning with EU initiatives such as the AI Gigafactory tender and the EuroHPC network.
The company argues that public subsidies can underpin this framework but that significant private capital will be required to scale. This positioning could place Nscale within EU-backed digital corridors and potentially ease regulatory and funding access, though execution remains tied to procurement timelines and investor appetite for large-scale compute projects.
Nscale also prepared to feature as a Gold sponsor at Dell Technologies World, underscoring its focus on AI infrastructure and scaling. The company will host a Sovereign AI panel, a keynote from Chief Revenue Officer Tom Burke and an EMEA-focused networking event, engaging directly with enterprise and regional stakeholders.
By targeting discussions on training, deploying and scaling AI systems, particularly around sovereignty, data residency and compliance, Nscale aims to strengthen ties with the Dell ecosystem and enterprise IT buyers. While sponsorship and expansion costs elevate near-term spend and execution risk, the week’s developments collectively reinforce Nscale’s ambition to be a leading provider of sovereign, large-scale AI infrastructure in Europe and beyond.
