Mural Health has expanded the global reach of its Mural Link participant management platform, enabling clinical trial sponsors and sites to make local payments to participants instead of relying on slow, fee-heavy international wire transfers. The upgrade allows funds to be delivered through locally familiar methods, including mobile wallets and domestic bank transfers, with a particular focus on complex markets such as Latin America.
By routing payments through in-country rails, Mural Link aims to address long-standing friction around reimbursement for time and trial-related expenses, especially in regions where traditional banking penetration is low or cross-border restrictions are high. The company says this capability is now available to all global trials using its platform in markets that require localized solutions, including LatAm, Ukraine, and China, helping avoid unpredictable fees, delays, and cross-border tax complications.
Mural Health’s approach is designed to improve participant experience and broaden access to research by ensuring compensation is received quickly, in full, and via methods participants already use. CEO and founder Sam Whitaker emphasized that sponsors and sites in historically underserved regions have lacked fit-for-purpose payment options from global partners, and that new infrastructure now makes it feasible to pay participants locally almost anywhere.
The enhanced payment functionality complements Mural Link’s broader toolkit, which already covers participant compensation, reimbursements, travel coordination, communication, satisfaction measurement, and meal delivery support. For Mural Health’s customers, the expansion is intended to reduce operational friction, build participant trust, and support more inclusive enrollment in international studies without adding compliance or tax complexity tied to cross-border transfers.
From a strategic standpoint, the new capabilities position Mural Health more competitively in the patient-centric clinical trial technology market by addressing a critical bottleneck in global study execution. The company is targeting sponsors and sites running multinational trials that need scalable, localized payment solutions aligned with diverse regulatory and banking environments, potentially increasing adoption of Mural Link as a core infrastructure layer for participant management worldwide.
