MoonPay has appointed Nyjah Huston as its first official Team Ambassador for the inaugural MoonPay X Games League (XGL) Summer Season, deepening its three-year, category-exclusive title partnership with X Games. The move positions MoonPay’s brand and crypto-payments platform at the center of a new, permanent, team-based competition structure in action sports spanning skateboarding, BMX, snowboarding, and freeskiing.
The MoonPay XGL concept, announced in January 2026, is designed to professionalize and stabilize athlete earnings through enhanced salaries, benefits, and potential team ownership, creating season-long narratives and rivalries that can attract sponsors and media partners. Huston, regarded as the most decorated street skateboarder in X Games history, has helped shape the league’s formats and athlete experience as a MoonPay XGL Founder Athlete and will now extend that role as a public-facing ambassador supporting fan engagement and league credibility.
MoonPay CEO and Founder Ivan Soto-Wright framed the partnership as an alignment between a disruptive fintech platform and an athlete known for redefining performance ceilings, reinforcing MoonPay’s strategy of using cultural touchpoints to expand its global audience. Huston will appear at MoonPay XGL events in Sacramento, Japan, and New Orleans, and will front media and social campaigns throughout the Summer Season, offering MoonPay substantial visibility across both core action sports fans and mainstream viewers.
The inaugural MoonPay XGL Summer Season begins June 26, 2026, in Sacramento, featuring four clubs—XC Los Angeles, XC New York, XC São Paulo, and XC Tokyo—with live distribution across the ESPN App, The Roku Sports Channel, YouTube, and Kick.com. The partnership is structured with a pass-through model that lets MoonPay’s network of more than 500 enterprise partners activate within the XGL ecosystem through integrated on-site and digital experiences, creating new channels for customer acquisition, brand partnerships, and potential payments use cases tied to live sports and digital fan engagement.
For MoonPay, which serves over 30 million customers in 180 countries and operates extensive regulatory licenses including a New York BitLicense, the XGL initiative provides a platform to showcase its ramps, trading, commerce, and stablecoin infrastructure to a younger, global demographic. Executives should view this as a long-term brand and ecosystem investment aimed at embedding MoonPay’s financial technology into high-visibility consumer environments, with upside in partner activations, data on fan behavior, and potential future integrations of digital assets into ticketing, rewards, or merchandise across the X Games franchise.
