Hellbender has secured a $12.5 million seed round to accelerate the rollout of its U.S.-built Physical AI platforms and expand domestic manufacturing capacity for edge computer vision hardware. The round was co-led by Magarac Venture Partners and Veredas Partners, with participation from Mana Ventures, Gaingels, Sum VC, and Active Angels Network, and will fund hiring across product, growth, and hardware operations as demand from robotics and autonomous systems developers rises.

Positioning itself as a foundational infrastructure provider for intelligent systems at the edge, Hellbender is commercializing years of proprietary IP developed while building custom vision systems for leading robotics companies. The company is transitioning from a primarily bespoke engineering and manufacturing arm into a platform provider, using its U.S.-based technology stack to mitigate global supply chain risk for customers that require secure, onshore AI hardware.

Investors highlight Hellbender’s ability to deliver integrated solutions, from early design through scaled production, as a key differentiator at a time when AI and robotics are rapidly moving from research labs into field deployment. According to Magarac Venture Partners, Hellbender has nearly doubled revenue annually since inception, signaling strong execution and growing market demand for secure edge AI solutions capable of real-time perception, reasoning, and control in complex physical environments.

The company is launching a new line of Physical AI cameras aimed at removing friction from hardware integration so software teams can focus on applications. Built on Hailo AI accelerators and Raspberry Pi compute, the devices are designed to deliver high TOPS performance at low power directly at the edge, providing embedded intelligence for mission-critical use cases across energy, logistics, agriculture, manufacturing, healthcare, and industrial automation.

Three flagship products anchor this camera portfolio: the Hellbender Stereo Camera, which combines depth sensing, open-access compute, and AI acceleration in a single unit; the Vine Camera System, which supports up to 64 cameras over long distances for scalable monitoring; and the Tadpole Camera, a compact module that embeds advanced vision capabilities into OEM hardware and security or Insurtech solutions. The Stereo Camera is already in pilot with a national utility, while the Vine system is being tested in a national convenience retail chain and assisted living facilities, providing early validation and pipeline visibility.

Pre-orders for the new camera line are scheduled to open in June 2026, with broader commercial availability expected thereafter. Hellbender will demonstrate the products at Automate 2026 in Chicago, using the event to deepen relationships with robotics and industrial customers and to reinforce its positioning as a domestic AI hardware provider.

For executives, the financing and product launch signal that Hellbender is moving into a scale-up phase, using fresh capital to build repeatable platforms rather than one-off systems and to lock in a larger share of the edge AI hardware value chain. The strategy targets customers that want to reduce dependency on offshore supply chains while deploying AI perception and decision-making nearer to the physical world, a trend that could benefit Hellbender as autonomous and industrial systems shift away from purely cloud-centric architectures.

By integrating engineering, hardware design, and U.S.-based manufacturing under one roof, Hellbender aims to offer a secure, low-latency alternative to fragmented solutions assembled from multiple vendors. If the company continues to grow revenue at its stated pace and successfully converts pilots into production deployments, the seed round could serve as a bridge to larger institutional financing and broaden its influence in the emerging Physical AI infrastructure market.
